My name is Adrianne Nowlin. I grew up in Houston and now live in Katy. I have always been drawn to helping others and began pursuing this calling in the field of Mental Health working with children and then adults in the Hill Country. After spending 10 years in the Hill Country, my husband and I and our 3 kids moved to Katy where the opportunity for me to work at Brookwood was a true blessing. I am extremely driven to find creative ways to set others up for success. I love spending time with my husband, kids, mother and our dog, Oreo. We enjoy playing games, watching movies, and being active outdoors together as a family.
ANTHONY EMERSONDirector of Spiritual Life
He ministers at a church called Mosaic Community Covenant as well as serving as Brookwood’s Director of Spiritual Life.
Apart from growing up in Texas, Pastor Anthony was born in North Carolina, is from Minnesota, went to school in Arkansas and Illinois, pastored in Missouri and Kansas, and still thinks Brookwood is the best place he has been (except for maybe Disneyworld). He lives in Missouri City (a suburb of Houston) and ministers part-time at a church there called Mosaic Community Covenant Church as well as serving as Brookwood’s Director of Spiritual Life. He loves BBQ, reading, listening to music, and hanging out with his wife Melissa and one-year-old daughter Zoe.
BECAH BUTLERInterim Chief Programs Officer
I have been working with people who have special needs for the past 29 years… some might even say it is my biggest passion.
My name is Becah Butler. I have been working with people with special needs for the past 29 years. I previously worked at Briarwood and in Klein ISD before starting my journey at Brookwood. Besides a brief stint selling shoes at the Footlocker, every job I have ever had has involved working with people with special needs. One might say I have a very narrow skill set. My family is my greatest love. I enjoy spending my free time with my two teen-age daughters, my husband, my mom and my 92- year old grandmother. If you know me, then you know I love to talk and move. My favorite hobby is distance running with my running group. I have a West Highland White terrier and a horse. The names in my family are : Bree, Brooke (daughters), Brett (dog), Blaze (horse) and John Butler (husband). We loves B’s. God is my daily guide. He led me from working in schools to Brookwood and he has led me every minute since. No day at Brookwood is ever the same and I LOVE IT that way!!!
GREG GLAUSERActivities Director
My wife and I, and our 6 month old son Grant, came to Brookwood 34 years ago thinking we could make a difference in adults with disabilities.
My wife and I, and our 6 month old son Grant, came to the Brookwood Community 34 years ago thinking we could make a difference in adults with disabilities. My wife had a Child Development Degree from University of Texas at Austin so I knew she could make a difference and I had a Radio, Television, Film degree also from UT (people always asked me if I could fix their TVs).
When we interviewed with Yvonne Streit, the founder of Brookwood and mother of Vicki, her daughter with disabilities, Yvonne asked my wife, Andrea, many questions and I think Yvonne was quite impressed with her answers. She then looked over at me and said “What can you do?” I almost told her I could fix televisions, thinking that the INN, where the first Citizens were going to live, would have televisions but instead said “I would do anything asked” (I am glad I did not tell her I could fix TVs because later she said she hoped there would not be TVs at Brookwood but rather a robust and busy activities program). I had worked at Camp Longhorn up in the Hill Country as Boys Camp Director and I immediately told Yvonne about all these “outrageous activities” we did at camp. I could tell by her look these activities would not be suitable for the Citizens at Brookwood so I just made up a fun activity and exercise which included BIKE RIDING and told her of the benefits of riding bikes. It must have “caught her attention” because she smiled and went back to my wife to discuss child development.
After the interview, Andrea and I walked to our car and she said how much she would really like to work at Brookwood. In my mind though I was sure I ruined the interview with my silly answers so I rushed back inside and asked to see Mrs. Streit for just a moment. I told her I could drive a bus (there was an old bus in the driveway that brought the Citizens to Brookwood from Briarwood School) and I could start up a BIKE CLUB. I would have never imagined I would get the job and be driving buses for 34 years.
HEIDI FARMERIntegrative Nutritionist
I am a breast cancer survivor and mom to a Diabetic, so inspiring wellness in others is one of the things I feel most passionate about.
Hi, my name is Heidi Farmer and I am your Integrative Nutritionist at The Brookwood Community. I am a Christian woman and proud mom of two teenage daughters (Ellie, 18 and Evan, 16). I am a breast cancer survivor and mom to a Type 1 Diabetic, so inspiring wellness in others is one of the things I feel most passionate about and led to do. I believe strongly in the body, mind and spirit connection and in particular, the power that ‘Food as Medicine’ plays in it. Some other things that I enjoy are exercising, reading, listening to music, doing crafts and spending time with my family and friends.

My parents lived and worked at Brookwood for over 25 years so I got to grow up here on campus! I came back to work at Brookwood in Admissions and my favorite thing to say is “Are you looking for a job?”! I love running, watching college basketball, and eating seafood. Thank goodness my husband Jacques is a good cook. I also spend a lot of time singing and dancing to Disney songs with my daughter, Gabby.
LORI FERRARIExecutive Assistant
When it was time to go back to work, I prayed to God to help find me a job that would fill my soul and He delivered me to Brookwood!
I joined Brookwood in July 2019 as the Executive Assistant to Becah Butler. I was a free-lance photographer for 10 years while being a stay at home mom to my daughter, Becca. I used to live in Stamford, CT where I worked for a hedge fund – it wasn’t as fun to work there as Brookwood. In 2009 I moved to Texas when my husband, Scott, was offered a job in Houston. When it was time for me to go back to work, I prayed to God to help find me a job that would fill my soul each and every day. God answered my prayer and delivered me to Brookwood! During my free time, I like to spend time with my family, knit, bake, and relax by my pool. I have two cats: Boomer and Lucy.

My name is Wendy Dicken. I have been a Registered Nurse for 33 years. Working at Brookwood has been the most rewarding job of my career. My husband and I have been married for 22 years. He is also a nurse. I have two children that have grown up around Brookwood and consider the Citizens part of their family. My daughter is a student at the University of Texas in Austin. It is so much fun to share Hook’ em with citizens who are also Longhorns. My son will be a senior in high school. He plays golf for the varsity golf team. It is an honor to care for the Brookwood Citizens and work together as we keep the community safe, healthy and happy.
